CT Storm Week 1 Recaps

Average Joe's and IJK...Thanks for sending in last week's game recaps!!!!!!

From It's Just Kickball (and they're stellar sock-wearing selves)....

IJK found themselves standing around the lobby before the games,
sizing up their competition.  We won't lie..  We weren't quite sure
what to expect from the team that had made their own kickball binder.
Luckily, this game is not won on organizational merit, but on the
kickball field.  IJK started the season in style (and by style, I mean
2 GMOT Blog shoutouts..  KaBoom Box/Chad and our awesome socks!).  We
threw together a kicking order and fielding positions by picking them
out of a hat, and it seemed to work.  We didn't let an unnecessarily
forceful peg to the rump,or watching our 2nd basewoman get slide
tackled get us down...   We bagged Sack Lunch by a score of 7-1, and
made Hot as Ballz sweat while we came away with our first shutout-
6-0.  Go IJK!

But hey... It's JUST kickball.

Annnnnd From Average Joe's Bright (as hell) Yellow Shirt Wearing Homies....

Game 1: Average Joe's 1, Balls Deep 4
Average Joe's is back open for business, and by business I mean partying
it up on the field. As per our usual, we may have lost but we still had
fun. Just about everyone got on base at some point but we were only able
to capitalize in the first inning when Old Man Jay scored on Captain
Whitesox's single. We also had a few highlight reel defensive plays by
some of the newest Joe's, G-Money and Rick the Pitcher. Overall I think
the gang is showing a lot of promise between returning members and the
latest free agent class, including an immediate buy in on the team motto
of "aim low" and style points with tube socks. Speaking of socks, we are
proud to be trendsetters of an old school gym tradition. The old school
tradition of short shorts on the other hand will not be happening, sorry
folks.

Game 2: Hot as Ballz 4, Average Joe's 3
To all the haters on the team: I'm not a total fail on RPS, yay home
field advantage! Ok so it still didn't help our cause as we're still in
search of our first win in team history but this certainly is the
closest we've come. We again had just about everyone on base at some
point, with Chris aka Kakman and Rick the Pitcher going 2-2 on the
night. We had runners in scoring position in both the 1st inning and 2nd
inning but weren't able to knock them in. With time running out in the
bottom of the 5th, we were almost able to rally from being down 4-0 but
came up short scoring 3 on solid baserunning by G-Money, Captain
Whitesox and Rick the Pitcher. Jon S aka The Burner looked like he had
the wheels to be the first run scored but came up a little short after
being thrown out at 3rd but still earned big style points on the slide.
We played solid defense yet again with really just one bad inning of
work that led to a few runs. We're close. Did I mention tube socks are
the bomb?
