Rain, Rain, Go Away, Thunder Ballers Want to Play

Rain? Please. That doesn't stop kickball. Yes, I'm aware it was a chilly yesterday, but the season is still young. Kudos to everyone for braving the elements yesterday. I hope that the warmth of the bar afterwards was well worth it.

Great first week everyone! We got started the closest to 'on time' as we could have, given it was our very first week. Next week, just please keep in mind that moving forward, we need to make sure we get started at 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. so that we don't run out of daylight. Also, we are playing 6 innings or up to 1hour of time this season. This should help better accomodate our big rosters.

**Rule Clarification: Games are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Teams are allowed a 15 minute grace period, but this 15 minutes is included in the one hour of play time alotted for each game. Example: Team A is waiting for their fourth girl to arrive at the field. The 15 minutes begins at 6:00. If she arrives at or by 6:15, the game may begin, but there is now only 45 minutes to play. The next game is still to begin at 7:00 p.m. 'We started late' is not a reason to play later. Once you hear the airhorn (which will be louder than last night) Games must end.**

I'd also like to address reffing. By now, you all should have had a chance to at least skim over the rules. They are available at the field and on the website. If you EVER have a question about a rule, please ask any member of season leadership and we're happy to help you. If there is a call that you absolutely feel is a game changing problem, please call a timeout and chances are there is a member to help out either on your field or at the next one over.

Back to fun things! I can probably speak on behalf of most veteran players that most of us were late to work or are currently struggling in our own hurtlockers today. To rookie players I say proudly, Welcome to Kickball, your Thursday mornings will never be the same. There was flip cup on pretty long tables last night and I can assure you that that'll only increase once it warms up and the patio is open. I was THRILLED to see such a great turnout!

Since I'm a huge fan of parties, I'd like to let you all know that there is a WAKA Social at Sully's this Saturday night, May 7th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Same drill as usual: $10 donation at the door for Coors Light drafts until the kegs are kicked and some food from Lena's. (BTDubs: their food is delish!) Sully's will be offering specials for kickballers as well, so come down and party. Flip cup and beer pong on the patio, as always.

Captains, make sure you're sending your recaps and scores to ct.gmot@gmail.com NO LATER THAN FRIDAY MORNING so that the standings can be updated and the recaps can be posted here. Please also be sure to 'follow' this blog so that you can comment on posts here and get updates on parties, fundraisers, bar crawls and other league updates!

See everyone Saturday, and Happy Tequila Day!!!!!
